One Hundred Hungry Ants
by Elinor J. Pinczes
One Hundred Hungry Ants is story is about a group of hungry ants who take a journey towards a picnic.
This is an easy read that serves multiple purposes.
It gives children a chance to practice both reading and making predictions. (Before the story ends, be sure to ask your child what they think will happen!) It also teaches multiplication by introducing the fact that 100 x 1, 25 x 4, 20 x 5, and 10 x 10 all equal one hundred.
If teaching grace and patience is a priority, it might be beneficial to ask your learner, “what’s another way that the story could have ended?”
Overall, this is a quick and pleasant read that opens the doors to many interesting conversations.
